OKAY PEOPLE, IT HAS HAPPEN! I'm at my friend's house and I finally got this scanned. This is my entry from last weeks round of Kuro-Creations  Imagination Creation Contest, week 7. I just barely made it to this week round, no thanks to to that bad picture I took of this. But let's leave that in the pass. I'm in week 8, (hell fucking yeah!) and I get to work with a partner this round. Eeee! I'm so excited! I get to work with Nyantawn ! I'm so happy and honored to work with her! ^^

I am going to repost the story, just encase you want to read it again. Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Rashin Desert. A hot, sweltering sand bowl of death and monstrous beast. A land not safe for anyone needing to travel threw it. Most are advised to go around it as the land surrounding it were mountains and it was the safest to go by. But that's usually not the case for some as going around the area would take longer then needed. Desperate and in a hurry, they go in. They have to pray though. Pray they never run into any of the Rashin's deadly beast or result in going to an early afterlife.
"Are you sure we are safe? This desert is not the friendliest of places," asked a creature under white lien cloth. It looked up with piecing icy blue eyes to the person in front of it. These eyes had no whites, just icy blue with a black cat like slit pupil.
"I assure you as soon as we get to Balain and in the company of the Guides of Dusk, we will be in safe hands...or rather safe paws." A girl chuckled as she remember this was the only kind species to live in Rashin Desert. The Guides of Dusk are the only creatures in this pit of evil that would help travelers out. They would provide safety and shelter at their home of Balain. "I promise you as a Protector in Training we will get there unharmed." she said as a surprisingly gentle wind blew by them.
The wind picked up the girl's wavy brown hair and gently tapped it against her pale face. Her pink dress barely moved against her legs in the wind's soft blow. Her sky blue eyes narrowed as the black and white Siberian Husky ear tried to pick up on anything. Let me guess, you are wondering why this girl has ears of a dog? Not to mention she has a Siberian Husky tail. Well, in this world, her world some humans are blessed or cursed with animal parts. There were some with dog parts like this girl here, some with fish parts, and some with reptile parts. Any animal in known existence, some had those parts.
But this girl was more. She had wings, pure white wings on her back as well. Anyone blessed with wings were consider either a Guardian of the world and it's inhabitants, or a Protector. Protectors were different from Guardians. They protect the most important of creatures ever. They protect the spirits of the world. No matter how big or small a Protector will be there to protect and defend any and all spirits.
Not everyone can make the cut though. A Protector is someone special and well gifted in strength, magic, and heart. Something the mentor of this girl saw in her. She trained long and hard, though at her current age of 19 she still had a long way to go before getting her Winged Halo. A Winged Halo was not only the status symbol of a Protector, but can be used to a Protector's advantage. Most could use it as a weapon, if and only if they had perfect control over the magic they had. Which she unfortunately didn't have just yet.
This girl was in training to become one of those elite Protectors. And as such, she was giving tasks to preform and or study from. This time it was a task of great importance. Her mentor gave her the task of taking a spirit on a round trip to and from the spirit's home. She had to keep the spirit safe and protect it at all cost. She agreed to do it, but deep inside she was nervous as this trip was a solo trip. Her mentor would not be joining them, she would have to do this by herself. She wasn't quite sure if she was ready for such a heavy task, but she got ready for it anyway and went on this trip. That was four days ago.
She sighed as her ears laid flat against her head. It had been going good so far. She met the spirit and the trip went well, until they got here. They were advise, but not having the time to go around the desert, they went in. So far, they haven't spotted Balain or a Guide of Dusk.
She muttered a spell underneath her breath. Plugging her staff into the ground she flew into the sky a bit. Her guest, a spirit if you hadn't guessed it by now, quickly went to stand next to it. A sparkling pink barrier grew over the spirit from the staff, protecting it as the staff's master looked around. "Do you see anything Trainee Anna Lee?!" it asked, looking up at the girl.
Anna Lee felt a small vain pop on her forehead at being called Trainee. She hated being called that, along with the name Novice Anna Lee. She was fine with 'Student' and 'Apprentice', but not 'Trainee' or 'Novice'. Those two always made her felt weak. She looked back down to the spirit once she was calm and yelled, "Just hold on sec! I'm still looking!"
Her eyes quickly scanned the area around them. Sand, lots and lots of sand, she thought as she saw nothing. She was about to groan and fly back down when a spot of hazy green appeared when she looked to her far left. "YES! I found something to our south west!" she yelled happily before quickly flying down.
The spirit nodded once the Husky finally landed inside the shield. "That is good," it said and looked to it's left. "It does not look to far from here. Hopefully it is not a mirage."
Anna Lee nodded before touching her staff. The pink shield flicked a few times, then went out as quickly as it came. She pulled the staff out quickly and started the hike towards the green area she saw with the spirit following closely behind.
~No Star~ ~No Star~ ~No Star~
It was an hour later, both Spirit and Protector were getting tired and hot. They panted as they tread closer and closer to the green area. Feet dragged in the sand. The green area changed from a hazy mess of green to plants and trees as they got closer. Anna Lee smiled brightly as she and the spirit rushed over. "Finally! Some shade!"
The spirit pulled to a stop in front of the area when it notice something. "Trainee Anna Lee!" The protector in training pulled to a stop, just a foot away when the spirit called to her. The white hood and veil covering the spirit was pulled off by it, revealing a female cat like creature. It's fur was sand colored with orange marks on her cheeks and on her large cat like ears. Black whiskers twitched as they were freed from the veil that covered them.
"What is it Spirit Tota? Is something wrong?" the protector in training asked, looking a bit confused.
Tota sighed, "This is not Balain."
Anna Lee blinked. She quickly turned back to the trees and looked. Sure enough, there was no sign of the Guides of Dusk here. Balain had a few towers and building mixed in with the many plants and trees. But this place had none. "Oh no." Anna Lee said.
Tota went to her as the girl's head dropped in disappointment. "It is okay Trainee Anna Lee. We can take refuge here until the temperature has dropped. It would be better if we traveled at night, don't you think?"
Anna Lee nodded before straightening up. "You're right. We should have waited until the night in the first place. Oh well. Let's see if there is any water." She pulled out her canteen and shook it. She grimaced when she heard only a little bit swishing around.
Tota pulled out her's and did the same. She was met with the same results. The two sighed sadly as they realized how badly they needed water. "I came badly prepared. My mentor is gonna be so disappointed with me." Anne Lee said as she slowly trudged into the area.
Tota quickly caught up with her and gingerly placed a pawed hand on the girl's shoulder. "You are still learning. You are allowed to make mistakes. We did not think or knew it would take this long to find Balain or a Guide, so we did not bring that much."
"But I should've know better." the girl said, only to be silence when Tota placed a finger on her lips.
"You. Are. Still. Learning. Your mentor will understand. If he does not, I am going to have a word or two with him." Tota said, winking down at her. A smile grew on Anna Lee's face.
She nodded. "Thank you Spirit Tota." she said, bowing on one knee as she placed her closed right fist in her left hand palm. The proper way to thank and bow to a spirit.
The spirit smiled. Her tail went around her and tapped the girl's husky ears, making her look up. "You are welcome Dear, but please call me Tota."
Anna Lee smiled a friendly smirk as she said, getting up from the ground, "Then call me Anna Lee. That 'trainee' stuff gets on my nerves. I've grown so tried of it."
"As am I with the 'Spirit' stuff." Tota said, causing both to chuckle as they continued threw the grove of trees. Many trees and plants of different size and species filled the place, providing shade from the hot desert sun. Several fruits and flowers dangled from several trees, just high enough for Tota to reach or for Anna Lee to fly to.
They gasped after a few minutes of walking around. Before them was a pond of water, clear, blue water. Smiles grew on their faces as the two rushed over to the water. They fell to their knees and drank greedily. Twin sighs of bliss passed their mouths as the cooling water went down their parched throats.
"Oh man, that hits da spot." Anna Lee said. She plopped down on the grassy sand, careful as to not let her feet or sand fall into the water.
Tota nodded as she too sat down, her smile never leaving as she watched the girl. "Yes, that was very refreshing. We can fill ourselves and our canteens before we leave at night."
"Yeah,we can but this place is so perfect. We can rest then leave tonight. Perfect!" Anna Lee said as she got comfortable.
She was about to place her arms behind her head when a deep, gruff voice came out of nowhere. "It would be if you get out of my home!"
The two females looked up quickly just as something swooped passed them at breakneck speeds. The Spirit and Trainee jumped up from their spots and dodged another quick swoop.
Anna Lee gripped tightly to her staff as she looked around for whatever it was. "Show yourself! You're attacking a Protector and a Spirit! Stop now and we don't have to fight!" she yelled, stepping closer to Tota. What she didn't notice was Tota wielding two katanas or that she too was looking around.
A deep laugh came out of the trees before a grey, wolf like creature swiftly flew down to the grown. Crimson red was on the tuffs of fur on his cheeks and chest. It was going down the back of his neck and down his flank. Red was on his paws as well as the spikes on his tail. Red horns sit on top of his head next to his big black and red bat like ears. His dark grey wings were stretched out to their full length, ready to fly at any moment.
A raging fury burned deep in the creatures crimson red eyes as a loud growl come out of his snarling mouth. "Leave this place, NOW!" he growled out as he crouched low.
A rustling from behind them caught Tota's attention. It fail to get Anna Lee's as she got ready to fight as well. "Listen! We just wanna to rest! We're not causing ya any trouble."
"I don't care! Leave this place and don't come back!" the wolf like creature said. "This area belongs to me, Darius the Desert's Wrath! Trespassers are not welcomed here! If you don't leave, then I have to kill you instead!"
Before Anna Lee knew it, Darius rushed at her. Teeth and claws bared and ready to tear anything and anyone apart. The two females jumped out of the way. Anna Lee managed to land next to the pond while Tota landed near the rustling bushes. "What the-?"
Darius turned to her. Growling he said, "Stay away from that and get out of here! NOW!"
"HEY!" Darius turned just in time to see Anna Lee rushing at him. Jumped to his left, successfully dodging the swing of her staff. She stood before Tota and said, her own teeth bearing in a deep scowl. "You do not talk to a spirit like that! Do you have any idea who she is! She's a high level spirit!"
Darius huffed as he turned his head away slightly, his eye staying on the bushes. "Like I care. What have spirits done for us here in the desert? I'll tell you what! NOTHING! We suffer out here, trying to find food and water while they sit in the laps of luxury. Well I don't get a flying fuck about them!"
"YOU'RE GOING TO REGRET SAYING THAT!" Anna Lee yelled before flying fast at the Desert's Wrath. Darius crouched as he waited for her. He pounced just as she was a foot away. The two crashed, hitting the ground hard as claws and fist met their opposites' hides.
The rustling got louder next to Tota. The cat spirit turned to them as her curiousity grew with each passing second. She had notice the Desert's Wrath's uneasiness and his constant watching of the bush. She quickly put two and two together, something was important in those bushes. She looked back to the fight just as Anna Lee pushed Darius away before going to the bushes. "What is it he is trying to keep us from finding? Or what is he protecting?"
She gasped at what she saw...
She turned back around and yelled at the two. "GUYS! STOP THE FIGHTING! HEY! STOP!" But it was no use. The two ignored her as they continued to fight.
Darius raised his tail and swung his spiked pincher at Anna Lee. She barely was able to dodge it, hissing when a spike scratched her arm. Darius laughed, making Anna Lee freeze and stare at him in confusion. "What? WHAT'S SO FUNNY!" she demanded, glaring death at him. She wanted to know what was so funny, and if he was making fun of her, he was going to really regret messing with her.
Darius' laughs slowed to manageable chuckles as he said, "I guess you don't know about us Desert's Wrath." He tsked when her confused look became more confused. "What a pity. A Protector in training and she doesn't even know what happens when you're scratched by a Desert's Wrath's pincher spike."
"What are you talking about!? Answer me!" she yelled but suddenly a numbness appeared in the area of the scratched. She looked and notice it was slightly deep, enough so to cause the wound to bleed. But she saw nothing wrong with it, so why was her arm starting to feel numb?
"Foolish husky girl." Darius said, drawing her attention back to him. "Desert's Wraths can have a paralyzing poison in there pincher spikes. Sometimes you can find it in their tail spikes, just like mine." He gave the now shocked girl a dark smirk. "In a few minutes your whole arm and maybe part of your chest will be paralyzed before going to the rest of your body, making you unable to fight properly."
Anna Lee gasped before a snarl of her own came out as she rushed towards the Desert's Wrath. She swung her staff at him, each time though he dodged. He jumped back before taking off into the sky. He flew at her each time, but the same happened to him, she dodged each time.
The numbness grew in her arm, she tried to hold on as she felt her arm slowly freezing as the paralyzing poison started to take effect. I can't lose to this beast! I'm a Protector! I can do this! she thought as she dodged another swipe of the spiked pincher.
"Hold still!" the angered Desert Wrath yelled as flew above the girl.
"Forget it! I'm not letting you win! I have a mission to do and I will fulfill it!" Anna Lee yelled back, carefully watching him. Even though her arm was slowly being paralyzed by the poison, something deep inside her was growing stronger as a pink and bronze glow started to surround her.
"What the?" Darius stopped in his tracks as he watched. He dropped to the ground and watched her closely as two balls of bronze colored magic appeared in her hands. "Oh I'm so scared." he said in fake fear. He laughed before charging at her.
Anna Lee smirked before releasing the now pink flaming balls at him. The first one missed the mark, but the second hit dead on. It hit Darius right on the head, knocking him onto the ground with a thud. He snarled as he tried to get back up. He looked back to the Protector, but was meet with a glowing pink staff in his face. He was knocked back even further after his side was meet with the staff. He yelped when that same side hit a rock buried in the sand.
He grunted as he tried to get back up. But try as he might, he couldn't. "How? How are you able to attack?! My poison should have stopped you in your tracks!" he demanded, looking back at her.
Anna Lee stood before him with a smirk as she held up her staff, it still glowing brightly. "It's my magic! It's protecting me the best it can! It's also helping me out. My magic can be filled into my staff as well, helping me win this fight." The metal heart on her staff glowed a brilliant bronze as it turned sharp. "I have a mission to finish and I won't let you stop me from finishing it!"
She raised the staff high, ready to hit him again and, to her hope, finish this fight. Darius growled as he steadied himself for the next blow. Anna Lee started the downfall of the swing when she felt something catch onto it. She looked to her staff and saw light blue and white wrappings holding her staff in place. She looked to Darius, thinking it was his doing, but was shocked when the same colored cloth came and wrapped itself around Darius' muzzle.
"I swear Darius, can we just have some peace and quiet without you fighting someone! I ask for only a few hours of rest, is that so hard to ask for!"
The two turned, following the direction the wrappings were coming from, and Anna Lee gasped. There before them was a dark sand colored male wolf like creature with terracotta fluff around his neck, but this was no ordinary creature, it was a Guide of Dusk.
"Wow...a Guide of Dusk." Anna Lee whispered in awe. She heard about them but she never seen one before.
The Guide sighed before moving closer with Tota following beside. "I am truly sorry for disturbed you two." the cat spirit said as they finally stopped in front of the two.
The Guide just shrugged. "I have to do this at least a couple times a week. Darius can be such hothead."
"MMM!" Darius yelled from his closed mouth. He started to grumble stuff, but it only got a roll of the eyes from the male Guide.
"You are too a hothead. They just came here to rest, that is all. I can tell they are not here to hurt us. Now please calm down love." the Guide said calmly, looking to Darius. Darius growled, but breathed as he tried to calm down. The Guide turned to Anna Lee, finally letting go of the staff.
"Ugh, how did you hold that? My staff would have shocked you. It's never meant to be held by anyone else." Anna Lee asked, still a bit shocked.
The Guide chuckled as he finally let go of Darius' muzzle. "Because the wrappings are made of a strong cloth. Even though they are attached to my body, I couldn't feel it."
Darius huffed as he looked around. "I'm not hothead Yukei. I was doing what dominate mate does."
"And what the heck was that?" Anna Lee asked as she glared back at him.
Tota looked down to Yukei, "May I show her?" Yukei nodded as he waved towards the bushes with his wrappings. "You may, just be quiet." the Guide said softly.
"Why?" Anna Lee asked. Tota smiled as she placed her index finger over her mouth with a silent hushing sound. She took the husky's hand and headed over to the bushes.
"He was protecting something very important to him." Tota whispered as she moved the leaves away revealing a nest of sorts made out of leaves and furs. It was in that nest that got Anna Lee's attention.
She awed when she saw three sleeping babies; one a Desert's Wrath like Darius, another was a Guide of Dusk like Yukei, and the last was a mix between the two. He had his 'mother's' fur color with red tuffs of fur like his father's. He had both wings and wrappings, but no spiked pincher like Darius. "Oh, they're so cute." Anna Lee said, gasping when she realized what was going on. "Oh my gods! You were protecting your family."
She turned to see Yukei going over to Darius. He gently rubbed his muzzle against Darius' neck. "That's right. I'll do whatever it takes to protect my family." he said as he watched them.
Yukei sighed. "I am truly sorry for what Darius did. He was only doing what he thought was right. Though I do not commend on it."
Darius huffed. "Whatever." Yukei glared at him before slapping the back of his head with one of his wrappings. "Ow, okay, okay! I'm sorry for attacking you."
"No, you don't have to. We should have just left after getting some water." Anna Lee said, bowing before them. "I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to be sorry about as well." Yukei said, waving it off. He went over to the two females. "Please stay here until twilight. I will be happy to help you get to Balain from here then."
"We would be greatly honored if you did." Tota said, bowing her head.
"Just not to close. We're not allowed anywhere near Balain or my former home." Darius said as he went passed the three to check on the pups. He sighed in relief when he saw them still asleep.
"Why not?" Anna Lee asked as she looked from Darius to Yukei. "I know Desert's Wrath and Guides of Dusk are enemies, but what else?"
"If I remember right..." Tota said, drawing the husky girl's attention to her. "If a Desert's Wrath and Guide of Dusk were to mate, that mating couple would be shunned from their groups and cast out of their packs. Right?"
Yukei nodded. "That is right. When we first met, we fell in love. We started to secretly meet each other and got to know one another. Our loved blossomed from then, but because of our packs' ways we could not be with each other." the Guide explained, going over to his mate and pups.
"We ran away from our packs and made this place our home. Yukei had just given birth a couple of days ago." Darius said, smiling sightly when one of the pups yawned a bit.
"That is why you were constantly watching the bushes." Tota said, making Anna Lee blink.
"He was?" the girl asked with a tilt of the head, getting an nod from the spirit.
"He was. You might want to pay more attention to how your opponent acts and behaves. Something I am going to have to tell your mentor to do." the cat spirit said, getting a groan from the girl. It just made her and Yukei chuckle.
Darius rolled his eye before laying down next to his pups. He hissed when he felt a sharp pain in side. "Damn, that hurts."
"That is what you get for not listening and being a hothead." Yukei said as he carefully moved the puppies away from him. He rather not have them hurt him any further if they finally start moving around.
Darius huffed again as he got as closed to comfortable as he could. "I was protecting us."
"Here, let me help you." Tota quickly went over to his side and barely laid her hands on him. "I know several healing spells, it is the least we can do." Darius and Yukei nodded before Tota started to mutter in a strange language. Her hands glowed an icy blue as the magic seeped out of them and into Darius' fur, making it glow icy blue as well.
It took about eight minute to complete the healing spell. Darius stretched once Tota's hands were gone and the blue glow disappeared. "How do you feel?" the cat spirit asked.
Darius got back up and stretched again with a high pitched yawn. "I'm feel much better. Thank you so much Spirit. I'm sorry for what I said earlier." He got down on one leg and bowed the best he could.
Tota nodded. "You are welcome and you are forgiven. We spirits tend to forget about those who really need help. I will see if we can not do something to fix that." Darius bowed his head in thanks.
~No Star~ ~No Star~ ~No Star~
By the time dusk hit the sky, everyone had gotten in a quick nap. Anna Lee and Tota filled up their canteens and took one more drink from the pond. Darius agreed to stay and watched the pups while Yukei took the girls to Balain.
Anna Lee went over to the Desert's Wrath as Yukei and Tota talked about something she wasn't interested in. "Hey, I just wanna say thank you for letting us stay until nightfall...and...sorry about the fight." she said, bowing her head.
Darius sighed again for the twelfth that day. "It's okay kid. I was being a...hothead. Don't tell Yukei I said that." he whispered. He really didn't want his mate to find out he was right.
Anna Lee chuckled. "I understand, it's stays between us." She got down onto her knees and hugged the wolf like creature, shocking him a bit. He got out of his stupor with a  roll of his eyes at her, but wrapped his wings in a hug never the less.
"Take care of yourself kid." he said when the hug broke.
The protector nodded. "I will. Good luck with the family, I hope everything goes well for you all."
"Thank you." He looked over to the two waiting and pointed his head towards them. "They're wait."
"Right. Goodbye Darius!" Anna Lee waved her good bye before rushing off to the others.
"Bye kid." he said, sitting down by the nest as the pups started to wiggle around. He smiled as he watched them for a bit as the three walked out of the oasis.
"I take it you two said your goodbyes." Tota asked as they fell into step behind Yukei. The Guide let his wrapping go around their wrist to make sure they didn't wonder away.
"Yeah we did. I'm actually going to miss him a bit." Anna Lee said.
"You two are welcome back here anytime. I like having company." Yukei said as he followed the sky path. It was one of the few ways any Guide could find their way home.
"We might have to when we come back this way." Tota said, giggling when Anna Lee nodded furiously. She looks so cute,she thought.
"Yeah! I want to see those pups again, they're so cute!" she squealed, getting a laugh out of the two as they continued into the night. By midnight, they made it to the outskirts of Balain. They said their goodbyes to Yukei, promising him they would see him and Darius again. Yukei smiled brightly at the idea before saying his goodbye and left the two alone.
Tota turned to her now friend and asked, "Are you ready to continue this trip Anne Lee?"
She held her hand out to the girl, who took it with a bright smile of her own. "You bet I am!"
